First Collaboration Underway

Posted on by admin in News | Leave a comment

Coup Street is proud to announce its very first t-shirt collaboration with artist Rene Melendrez aka Dweebkid. This morning we had our first meeting to discuss our goals and strategize our collabo. This will be a limited edition release with partial proceeds going towards a non-profit/charity that supports the cause that we are choosing to shed light on. For now we are going to keep the details of the design for a later post, but just know we’re making moves. Check back with us next week to find out the latest details.

Last night was one of our most successful Artwalk events so far. We sold a bunch of shirts, built a big mailing list, got some great flicks and some loyal fans.

Once again, we also collaborated with our boy Danny Mateo. This time he had prints of his work for sale, so they were selling fast. Soon we’ll have a Danny Mateo Coup Street collection, so be sure to look out for that very soon.

As always, our mannequin got plenty of fame, and is well respected.

For more pictures from the event, you can check out our facebook page. Feel free to share the photos with your friends, tag yourselves and spread the word about Coup Street. Until next time.

The Definition of the Hungry Hustle

While waiting in line at a drive-thru, I noticed my pigeons out there on that Hungry Hustle. This is exactly why the pigeon is our symbol of that dedication and drive it takes to achieve your dreams. Even on a rainy day, they go at it hard. Use them as an example and stay on your Hungry Hustle.

A Couped UpDate

Posted on by admin in News | Leave a comment

A few weeks ago we released the news about Coup Street’s very own animated series called “Couped Up,” so we wanted to give you all an update on the progress we’ve made since our last post.

So we reached out to our boy Josue Zeta Rojas of Frequency Flavor. Besides being a dope photographer and film maker, he also specializes in sound (mixing, recording, design, all that). So he did us a favor by letting us record the voices of the characters that will be in our pilot episode. Unfortunately we were grinding so hard we forgot to take some flicks of the recording session. I could post a little snippet from the recording, but we’re gonna save that for later. For now, here are some more sketches from the pilot episode by our animator Anthony Babbitt. Stay tuned for more updates and the release of Couped Up that will hopefully be dropping by the end of this summer.

LA EN VIVO BLOCK PARTY with artist Danny Mateo

This past memorial weekend Coup Street was at a 3 day event called the LA EN VIVO BLOCK PARTY that took place at L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles. A lot of people came out to celebrate the holiday weekend so it was a great chance to gain some exposure. We teamed up with local artist Danny Mateo who’s art was a big hit. The three day event had live music, food, games and tons of local art.

There was also a boxing ring sponsored by Golden Boy that featured several amateur boxing bouts and on the final day of the event, the boxing ring was used for some ‘lucha libre’ that featured some popular Mexican wrestlers.

The wrestling was a great addition to our friend Danny Mateo’s art work because as you can tell the lucha theme inspires a lot of his work.

We also met local graphic artist Rene Melendrez, the man behind Dweebkid.com We liked his work and are already planning on some future collaborations so stay tuned for that.

On the second day of the event, 96.3FM had a contest to see who could make the best fan poster for the Don Omar concert that went on later that night. The winner would get free tickets. These two ladies asked us if they could borrow our tape to make their poster, so we lent it to them under the condition that they put our sticker on it. Good thing they did because we’re sure that was the reason they ended up winning the free tickets.

It ended up being a great way to get some subliminal fame. Hey we gotta be creative with marketing these days. Well that’s our recap on the event. Another great experience in the books as we stay hungry in the hustle to create our brand.

Coup Street working on their very own cartoon animation series

Posted on by admin in News | Leave a comment

Soon Coup Street will have its very own cartoon animation to go along with its clothing line. In fact, to be perfectly honest, the story of Couped Up is what inspired the theme of Coup Street, not the other way around.

Without giving away too much, Couped Up is a story about some urban, inner-city pigeons that live in a pigeon coop on top of an apartment building called the Coupe de Villas, located in the hood. They are locked up in the coop, or better yet, “Couped Up”, and trying to figure out a way to escape.

We teamed up with local aspiring animator Anthony Babbitt who was inspired by our idea and concept. So far we have the pilot written out and are working on an animatic version of the pilot in hopes to get some funding for the first season. We’ll keep you posted on the progress of the animation. For now, here are some pictures of what the Coupe de Villas look like and a few character sketches.

Coup Street @ Downtown LA Artwalk – May 10th, 2012

Posted on by admin in News | Leave a comment

Last night, Coup Street had another successful outing at the Downtown Artwalk in Los Angeles. As usual we received a lot of great feedback and it only adds more fuel to our fire to get out there and bring a new style and look to the streetwear and fashion culture. After receiving numerous requests for girls clothing we tested out a few designs on some neon colors and the response is definitely going to have us making more girls clothing. So all you ladies can be sure to look out for that very soon.

Our mannequin was also in full effect and it was the first time it was displayed fully completed.

We also networked and met some local artists that we hope to collaborate with and grow as we push forward in this game. Coup Street is always down to work with others to help each other get to the next level. Whether you’re a designer, musician, dj, whatever dream you’re chasing, if we can help each other out, let’s make it happen. It’s all about finding a way to get paid to be yourself. All in all, it was another great night. Below are some of the pictures, but you can see the rest on our facebook page. If you see your friends, let them know and tag yourselves and spread the word about Coup Street.

As the Coup makes moves to gain more exposure for Logos 4 Polos, we’ve linked up with a local LA skate shop in Boyle Heights. Soul Skating is more than just a skate shop, they also have trade show bags and an art gallery that helps local artists gain exposure and they also offer some of the best clothes. while also hosting community events. Soul Skating’s dedication to it’s community is one of the many reasons we chose to collaborate with them and not only will we be selling our clothes in their shop, but we will also be working on future projects to bring our similar goals to life. Go check out the Personalised Hoody shop at 770 Boyle Ave, right off the 10 freeway in L.A. Or for more info checkout soulskatingla.com
